What Continued Use of Alcohol and Drugs Does to the Mind, Body, and Appearance
Life’s Realities LLC was created to bring important social issues to the readers. My books, websites, and blogs have real people, true stories, and actual places.
My book, “Highway to Homelessness – Road to Recovery” content addresses the events that can lead to depression, homelessness, trauma, and chemical self-abuse. The book, chapter 3, and appendix have an 11-point action plan that creates a foundation for a successful recovery and the Recovery Capital Scale and Category Assessment for self-measurement of progress for a better quality of life and recovery, thus avoiding what you will see below.
In my opinion, denial ends when you admit you are depressed, alcoholic, addicted, and that you have a disease! There are many ways you measure the disease’s timeline such as financial deterioration, loss of friends, family, and activities, OR the way you look! Please read the blog I wrote since 2017 www.addictionrealityeducation.com, my post about the telltale physical traits you cannot hide when you are hooked.
Note: Think about yourself, a friend, or educating a young adult. By realizing the signs of the disease, we can take steps to eliminate or shorten the timeline. The people I presented in this post had a timeline you can physically see.
I love movies and good TV sitcoms. So, I took the time to look at five high-profile stars. I’m listing their names, their familiar movies, and their photos before and after their addiction.
Please note Robert Downey Jr. turned his path around

Jan Michael Vincent – Soldier Blue, Air Wolf, White Line Fever filmed in the seventies and early eighties. The changes develop in 15 to 20 years.
Lisa Robin Kelly, “That 70’s Show”, definitely took a turn for the worse over the years. In 2014 died drug overdose. Kelly never committed to seeking help.
Robert Downey Jr. – Chaplin, Iron Man. 1st picture in the nineties. 2nd Downey in early 2000’s.
Glen Campbell seventies/eighties. 2nd picture is 2000’s. Known series of hit songs in 1960s/ 1970s. Partied for decades which moved him into early Alzheimer’s.
This website has documented impressive medical findings made since 2013. I cannot say there is no excuse for not turning the path, but we now have far more tools, treatment, and education than the people before us.
